From showing data to helping with the next task

An AI-native product starts with the user's work. The workflow, the data and the review process are designed together.

Look beyond the screen

My starting point for an AI-native product is the work the user needs to accomplish. The workflow, data and review process belong in the same design. What happens after a user leaves a screen: which information do they gather again, what document do they prepare, or whom do they need to brief?

Define a narrow contribution

In an illustrative monitoring product, a first contribution could be a review draft built from selected measurements with visible sources. The user checks it, adds missing context, and decides whether to share it.

Design the release decision too

The team should decide who will try the feature, what would stop the trial, and how users return to the previous workflow. Google’s SRE Workbook describes evaluating a change through a limited deployment before expanding it. That offers a useful starting point for treating AI as part of the product’s ongoing operational responsibility.
